Family History

Bowel cancer is a common condition and many people will therefore have someone in their family who has experienced it. If you have a number of people in your family who have had bowel cancer or bowel polyps or someone has had it at a young age (under 45) you may be advised to have regular screening colonoscopies to check for early signs that you might develop it in the future. We would be happy to see and advise regarding your personal risk. If a family history is combined with other factors (e.g. altered bowel habit or rectal bleeding) then there will be a lower threshold for recommending investigation.
